Preparation time: 15 min
cooking time: 45min
total time: 60 min
- 500 gm chicken
- 1 cup finely sliced onion
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 tbsp ginger paste
- 2 tbsp garlic paste
- 1/2 cup dry coconut
- 3 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp onion garlic masala(homemade)
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 4 tbsp cooking oil
- 1/4 cup coriander
- Salt as per taste
Clean the chicken and marinate with 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, salt and 1/2 tsp garam masala and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
Heat the pan on a medium flame and dry roast sesame seed till it turns golden brown. Take it off from the pan. Now roast dry coconut for 4-5 min, and then add sliced onion with little oil and fry till onion becomes translucent.
Once it cools down add sesame seed, dry coconut, onion, ginger, garlic and coriander to the blender and blend till it becomes a smooth paste.
In a heavy bottom pan, take 3 tbsp oil and add bay leaves. Fry it for a minute.
Add onions and fry till onion turns golden brown. Now add onion garlic masala, garam masala, turmeric and coconut masala which we had prepared.
Saute until oil starts to separate from the sides
Now add marinated chicken and fry for about 1 min.
Add 1 cup hot water and salt (be careful here because we have already added salt during marination). Mix it well and cover. Cook until chicken is cooked thoroughly. Keep checking to avoid burning. You can add more water if required
Garnish with coriander leaves and lemon wedges.
